Damping Factor Controllers
Damping Factor Controllers
There are many reasons why some enthusiasts prefer the sound of tube amplifier in their system, and one is simply due to the fact that it seems to round off the sharp edges. If a song is particularly harsh in the treble region, a tube amp can smooth this out into something more warm and inviting. Some manufacturers and amplifiers that are solid state attempt to create this same affect by using output transformers, this will lower the damping factor meaning that it reacts a bit slower, loosening its control on the speaker to smooth out the sound.
Similar to the Damping Factor Adjuster by Gilbert Yeung, these Damping Factor Controllers bring this effect to any system, allowing you to shape how your amplifier pairs with your speakers. How these differ is from the DFA 1-4, is these are fixed values. Simply connect the controller in line to the outputs of your amplifier or at the speaker terminals.
DF1 will adjust the damping factor equal to 1, the max attenuation of damping factor.
DF8 will adjust the damping factor equal to 8, the midrange attenuation of damping factor.
DF16 will adjust the damping factor equal to 16, the minimal attenuation of damping factor.
Price is $270 per pair or $135 each
